I am so looking forward to capturing you and your family. Here is a bit of information that will hopefully help in the lead up!
What to Wear Guide.
I often get asked what to wear for a family session. To be honest, I am all for wearing what you already have so it is definitely non-essential to buy something new. I recommend having a look in opshops and secondhand on Facebook marketplace too for goodies! Some brands I love for cute outfits are: Illoura the Label, Jamie Kay, Tiny Trove, Millk, Grown.
Texture & Fabric
Textures and natural fabrics such as linens, heavy knits and lace can add an extra layer and a soft feel to your photographs. This can come in the form of a crochet blanket, or a chunky knitted jumper.
Tones & Colour
Colours are a key element in what will make up your photograph and will help your family look cohesive together. I recommend choosing neutral tones such as cream, beige, brown, white, mustard, tan, olive and warm pastel colours. This will work in any home and environment and will help to keep the focus on your beautiful family! Colours such as black and navy and loud prints are not recommended as they can detract from a photo.
Coordinate
Without being too matchy, coordinate and compliment each other’s outfits. The most important thing is to choose clothes that reflect who you are as an individual and something that will mean you are comfortable on the day!
Newborn Wardrobe
Please let me know if you would like to make use of my newborn wardrobe.
There are onesies, blankets and bonnets available for all newborn session bookings.
In-Home Session Tips
I usually let the natural lighting of a house guide my location choices but typical areas of the house we might photograph in are the bedroom, the lounge room and the nursery/playroom. Please don’t feel like you have to have an entire sparkling house for your session!
I recommend opening any blinds or curtains as I usually don’t work with any ceiling lights.
Lastly, relax and have fun! Enjoy the time with your family while we capture these precious moments together.
